Rearcross travelled to Newtown last Saturday morning to take on Arra Rovers in their first away fixture of the season. The game started promising for both sides as chances were created at either end of the field from early on. Arra Rovers were first to break the deadlock helped by a deflection from a Rearcross defender. This set back did little to upset the visitors who levelled matters on the 10 minute of the game through a fine stricke from Cathal Malone. Arra Rovers once more took the lead on the 16 minute but again Rearcross fought back and were rewarded with a goal from Cathal Dervan just before the break.
The second half saw Rearcross take control of the game with great work from Colm Kennedy, Killian Healy in defence. The midfield started to dominate the game with Cathal Malone, Tristan Deegan and Brian Hammersley winning ball for each attack. Cathal Dervan added a further two goals to claim his hat-trick whil Aaron Lenihan put the result beyond doubt with a fine strike minutes from the end.
